No Problem, Todd - - - Lets Shoot For Jan. 2008...

Hey Todd, don't worry about it. You have been working your butt off not only to setup the Fl Invitational SMG Match, but promoting SMG matches in general. With almost a year ahead of us before the 2008 FL Invitational SMG Match, hopefully more people will get their feet wet in SMG matches and get ho...

Bullethose getting DUSTY.......

True, but we all have been busy with "other things" lately. The holidays are about done and a new shooting season is approaching FAST. Time to fire this place up...................... To Do List.............. 1. Fine tune the SMG match guidelines/rules. 2. Develope a USA SMG match schedule for 2007....

CONTROL the BOLT...

Yes, control the bolt FIRST on OB SMGs. I have been watching old vids of matches and casual shooting, and have noticed that the "control the bolt" principal is being used too little..... SMG shooters (old & new) need to be reminded that... When the bolt drops on an empty chamber or a jam occurs, RAC...

. Paul makes VERY GOOD points here........... The RO should assist the "SMG match newbie" to FIRST, make sure things are kept SAFE, and second, to help insure the newbie does not get discouraged at their first SMG match (and not come back). I think the RO should ask the shooter if the SMG they are h...

. Assuming we now agree that "dead is dead" when it comes to all no-shoot targets, I am changing my vote to steel no-shoots do NOT have to fall to count. I think this concept will benefit the match organizers by allowing the steel no-shoots to be set heavy and not worry about being "calibrated". We ...

.

Paper target hits should score ONLY when the hits touch a scoring area. Hits outside the border line/perf should not count.

. While I agree your new steel falling plate targets do look GREAT (heavy-duty components), I see 2 possible problems. 1. The nut coming loose on the pivot bolt. I suggest you drill a hole in the bolt and install a cotter pin. 2. The small bolt that "locks" the base to the rebar stand. If that bolt ...

. While I think we all agree that painting shoot steel for every shooter is almost out of the question due to time and labor issues, I have seen a match (ISSMC), pictures, and videos were I thought the shoot steel had way too many hits since the last painting. I would say re-paint shoot steel every ...

. I have a hard time hearing the timers with the high pitch buzzers, and would ask that they be held close to my head. The newer timers use a lower pitch buzzer and that helps quick a bit. If I can not hear the timer going off while watching others shoot, then I ask the RO for a test beep before my ...

. todd and L34A1.... I am NOT trying to change the way you guys in FL do SMG matches. I am just trying to "expose" other ways of doing SMG matches. True, you guys in FL probably have been doing SMG matches longer than others, but with that time you guys might be getting "set in your ways"..............

I think we had a couple like that when you were down this way. We shoot more with out no shoot targets than we do with no-shoots. This past month we had all 4 stages with no shoots although one of the stages they were used primarily to block the shooters direct line of sight to targets. YES... YES....

As far as a competitions being flavored toward single shot guns I agree and I don't like it. Single shots only serve to prove accuracy and trigger control. Too much of anything isn't good which is why I am a huge proponent of using props and setups which push the competitors into full fire. There m...

Using the selector...

. I feel that if the use of selectors are allowed then their use must be limited to certain targets (arrays) as stated in the COF. If you give full judgement to the shooter for the whole stage, then I feel Gamers will find it more beneficial to use more "semi" than "full" on most stages. I would not...

. todd: Thanks for the MAC vs Micro UZI accuracy test video. However, you left out a few details..... 1. How big was the target? 2. The MAC was iron sights and the Micro UZI had optics. 3. Have the MAC shooter fire 10rds at the target quickly and count the hits. Both standing and kneeling. Same for ...
