SMG Standards course of fire?

Post by huntershooter » Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:48 am

At one of the last subgun events I shot there was a Standards stage consisting of three strings.

String One and Two was shot on an IPSC target at about 7 and 15 yards, respectively. The shooter fired an entire 10 round magazine in one continuous burst with no time limit.

String Three had an IPSC target at about 25 yards. Again the shooter engages with a 10 round magazine with no time limit on full auto but the burst doesn't have to be continuous.

The targets are scored for points only. I believe Frank James created this course.

I searched this board and Google with no results. Can anyone clue me in?

Thanks!

Hi huntershooter,

Are you looking for a standards course of fire? There has been some discussion about doing standards courses here in the past but as far as I know nobody has set one up. The one you describe sounds very practical for evaluating the shooters ability under full auto fire.

Where was this subgun match at and do you know who the match director was?

>> Hi huntershooter

You can call me John.

>> Are you looking for a standards course of fire?

I'm interested in *any* course that is standard or common for full auto shooting. The course I described is the only "standard" course I'm aware of.

>> Where was this subgun match at

Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin

>> do you know who the match director was?

Arnold Harris

Thanks for the response!
