Fall 2010 Knob Creek National Subgun Match Results

Post by Paul Winters » Mon Oct 11, 2010 5:53 am

Here are the results (unofficial..of course but I stayed at a Holiday Inn...). Congrats to all who came out to play. The weather was great (acutally hot in the afternoon). The Range Officers, steel setters, and the crowd who helped reset the steel worked very hard and made this a great match. Everyone seemed happy and the shooters were great to be around (this is my kind of family). This was a change up of the last few matches. Paper and clay birds were tried and seemed to work. Great big thanks to Kenny, Tracy, Gina and the KCR staff. They are one of our biggest fans and we definately appreciate their support. Thanks to Rainier Ballistics for the sponsorship and providing 12,000 bullets we could share with all our shooters. All comments, constructive critism, and ideas are welcome. My email is out there for all to see. We will be scheduling a Range Officer Class for the Spring if anyone is interested. If you didn't make this one, maybe in the Spring. Time to think up the next one (heh heh heh)

Andy Blaschik was our TOP GUN. Someone asked me if I saw his run and, while I did, all I was was falling steel and he was at the end of the stage. A blinding 45.78. Way to go Andy!

Thanks! All the Fl folks did well and ranked. Mike "spitfire" did a kick ass job as well and it took me to knock him out of the top spot. You gotta get out to one of these shoots VegasSMG... it was awesome!

Excellent!

Thank you for sharing that, I've found my new home, the fun class, perfect!, exactly what the Dr. ordered.

Thank you

Wow, the Malabar club did great. Nice work Todd, and Andy, and Mike.

I'm still not up on everyone's names at the Malabar club (I'm not very good with names anyway), who else was there from the Malabar group? (I know I saw Andy's wife mentioned in there).

Was there any significance to the targets with the red heads? I noticed there were 2 in each of the last 2 groups of targets.

The red portion of the target was a no-shoot. To make it more fun, these targets were set heavier than the others. So you still had to take them down, but you couldn't put your bullets in the place that would do the most good.

It was interesting to watch some people put big bursts into the bottoms of those targets, trying to stay away from the heads. They would rock, but not go over. 3 or 4 in the upper circle would put them down just fine, though.

The drive is about 1100 miles we left Soiuth Florida, Wednesday the 6th and drove 8 hours got a little less than half way. Got out early the next day and after a planned stop in Park City just north of Bowling Green. And got into Shepardsville around 6pm Thursday the 8th.

We stopped to spend some trigger time on a rifle range, that is associated with Park Mammoth Resort. They have a great facility there on a defunked Golf Course. They have the ability to shoot up to 1700 yards! Plus an awsome Shotgun course and they just held a big Shotgun match there.

We needed to check out our zero on our AR's for the rifle match. Since the elevation in Florida we shoot at is 19ft above sealevel and the Creek is 438ft. We needed to see if it made a difference. Since the weather was the same as Florida there was no dramatic difference.

We have driven up to the Creek in one long 16hr trip but were older and wiser!
