Fall 2013 Knob Creek National Subgun Match Results

Post by Paul Winters » Mon Oct 14, 2013 8:19 am

The scores are already posted on the KCR Web site, but I wanted to post them anyway (unofficially, of course). We were sponsored by C&M targets and the little paper added a challenge to all. This was a full match with 175 runs scored. This one had a little of everything and the clown noses the shooters wore fogged up a couple of glasses once the shooter got going. Congrats to all the shooters for a safe run. Big congrats to Chris Hipes for his TOP GUN trophy with a blinding 105.26! Hope y'all had fun with this. The clowns were defeated and we are safe again. On to the next one.

Great match Paul and thanks for the anti fog on my glasses so I could actually see something on the Sterling run. I didn't think that nose would make that much of a difference.

I had a blast watching and getting a chance to talk to some old friends that I do not get a chance to see as often as I would like.

Congrats to Joyce she shot amazing and did it with K. Also congrats to all the winners. The competition is always tough down at KCR and any mistake will always come back to haunt you.

Next time......

"The Black Pearl" will be back in-service, and we'll be there. Not that any of us are any threat, but the more new shooters the better. That is one thing that impressed me was the number of names I had not seen before.

We'll add three new names in Spring and a fourth next Fall. Will be good!

Bob,

I wish I would have known. You would have been welcome to use my Sterling, Uzi, or throw your pack on my HK94SBR.

the spring will be here before we know.

Thank You, Cain

I appreciate your offer and Ed Varner offered his as well, many thanks to you both.

We plan on practicing hard over at Old Trails, (while we can get down there that is).

It was good for them to watch a few runs and get a feel for how it works. I'm planning on getting more Newbold targets, set up some different arrays of fire, we'll be up to speed.

I have some of the small cardboard C& M targets, we'll be practicing with them also.

Thanks again

Would somebody post a walk through of the match and maybe some close up pictures of the paper targets? Thanks trying to figure out what is going on when the people are shooting.

KCR Fall 2010 Course Instruction

Welcome to the Fall 2010 Knob Creek National Subgun Match. This match we are sponsored C & M Targets. They have generously provided a large quantity of their ½ size paper targets. You might consider them for your club or match for future use. If you order any, please thank them for their generous support.

This course of fire is called Killer Clowns. A terrorist training camp has been found. The is the Al ClownDuh cell, a humorous faction of Al Quida. Your mission is to infiltrate the camp, posing as a clown and eliminate the dangerous clown. You will accomplish this by wearing you special disguise provided to get into the camp. Be careful as we have some undercover clowns already planted in the camp and we don’t want you to engage them.

Wearing your special disguise on your nose, you will begin with your subgun unloaded and bolt closed on an empty chamber held at the Rhodesian ready held by both hands. All magazines will be in a pocket or pouch. On signal, you will proceed to the Camp entrance, load and make ready and engage all the steel poppers with all rounds passing through the door opening. Engage all the ---- poppers before you engage the special trip popper. All steel must be down before you engage the slider clowns. When the special popper has been defeated, you will see engage all the moving clowns as they are visible. Once the moving target has competed it’s run, you may not re-engage any paper that may be showing.

You will then proceed to the table where there are 2 staged magazines with no more than 30 rounds loaded. Using one of the staged magazines you will engage the steel plate rack. If you are able to defeat all the plates on the plate rack with a single pull of the trigger you will receive a 10 second bonus. The second magazine is to re-engage any plates that have not been defeated or you may take it with you for use on the course.

You will then proceed to the barricade with the stars and engage all the orange targets with all rounds passing through the port in the door.

You will then proceed to the next double window door and engage all paper with all rounds passing within either or both of the windows in the door. Be carefule of the no-shoot targets.

You will then proceed to the final position and engage the ---targets with all rounds passing through one of the round portals in the door. You will then engage all the --- targets with all rounds passing through the triangle ports. You will then engage the ---- targets with all rounds passing through the lowest center port in the barricade.

Note: All shots may be supported by any of the props.. A magazine change must be performed between each stage. This is defined as the time between the last shot being fired from one stage and the first shot being fired from the next stage. A magazine change is either a new magazine or the same magazine removed from the subgun so that light is seen between the magazine and the subgun and reinserted. A 10 second penalty will be assessed for not performing the mandatory magazine change per occurrence. This is referred to as the drum neutral rule.

When you are finished you will unload and show clear at the Range Officer’s instructions. The 180 line is parallel to the barricade you are located at. Penalties will be assessed at 10 seconds for each target engaged out of designated position, 10 seconds per occurrence for failing to perform each of the required magazine changes, 10 seconds for each target not defeated, and 10 seconds per target for hitting the red no-shoot frame or red popper head area, or the paper no shoot targets, 10 seconds for not retrieving the dummy and for not possessing the dummy at the next string and 10 seconds for not putting the hostage in the helicopter gray passenger area not touching the ground. . All pepper poppers and plates are the shooters responsibility to fall for score. If a plate is turned to an extreme angle it will be considered defeated at the Range Officer’s instruction. If a prop is hit by a full round it is a match disqualification…so don’t do it. Since you cannot step backwards, you may only retrieve a dropped magazine or dummy that you can reach without backing up. Any target engaged with your disguise not on your nose will be a 10 second per string penalty. If your nose falls off without your touching it, you will nnot be penalized.
