Fall 2015 Knob Creek National Subgun Match Results

Post by Paul Winters » Mon Oct 12, 2015 9:28 am

Another match in the books. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and we ran 157 runs. Saw a lot of new faces and it was great to visit with our long time shooters. The landing craft door was 100% on the 1944 string. The low port unsighted burst at the 1929 string challenged everyone as did the very heavy poppers on 2004. Bracing on the tree trunk at 1918 seemed to change the impact of some of the subguns. As always thanks to Knob Creek for all their support. The RO’s did a great job and the match ran like clockwork. Thanks to our main sponsor Diamond Lube (DiamondLube.com) and help from Innovative Targets (InnovativeTargets.net) for building and bringing the large AR500 targets we used on 1929 as well as the neat ringers we used at 1918. We had several things raffled off to our shooters from Mike Papanek, Diamond Lube, and Brite Ears. The results are at the end of the list. If your name is on the list Knob Creek has the items, except for E. Shilling who will be able to get his custom molded ear protection from Brite Ears next KCR event in the Spring. Thanks Sponsors!

Next one will be a Star Wars theme. Hope to see y’all there.

P.S. There will be a Range Officer class offered for the Spring if anyone is interested. We can always use the additional help.

It was a challenging match, and I thought it was very well done. It was run very efficiently. The range was set up such that the steel could be reset on the first three arrays while the shooter was still shooting at the last array. Then the ROs had the on-deck shooter at the start position, ready to go. So as soon as the shooter was done and cleared, the last array is set, workers are off the range, and the next shooter is ready to start. It was all very smooth. Well done!

As I said, it was very challenging. Out of 157 runs, only 13 completed the course with no penalties. I'm thinking I need to practice keeping a burst inside a 6" circle. Something to approximate the head of a pepper popper.

bob wrote:I was impressed by how fast the course and each squad went.

I still can't believe that shooters would pay for a run, and then not show up???? 4 shooters in the first squad on Saturday I recall, oh well, it worked for the rest of us great.

Good to see the old LST still getting time, sad to know it's off to the Jungle Walk and oblivion, but is how it goes, I'll never see it again for the guy who runs the Jungle Walk is such a jerk, I won't waste any of my time or air walking down there.

Funny, some folks on their first trip to KCR stopped by as I was getting ready on Friday, asked me all about the place and the Jungle Walk specifically. I cautioned them that the guy who runs it is pretty nasty, they went on. Saturday morning as I was getting ready to head down to sub gun, same people walked by, the wife says " You were right, THAT guy is a real asshole!!!!" Really surprised me to hear that especially from this lady.

Nastyness and a really bad attitude towards life seemed to prevail at the Creek this time, everywhere save for the subgun match. The workers at KCR were far more nasty, and the vendors, I won't be asking any questions of a vendor, ever again.

What did queen Tracy decree this time to piss everyone off so bad?

It certainly worked quite effectively, everywhere except for the sub gun area, my hat's off to you guys for being polite, professional and the usual few had plans to kill me, but that's to be expected!

Fair Warning!! See you in the spring!
A little phrase that has served me well over the years.

If you wake up in the morning a you run into an asshole, they are an asshole.
If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole.

Bob, You're a great guy but you seem to be finding a lot of assholes in your walks around KCR. The negativity in this post of yours doesn't help anyone or our sport. Why even post it?

I thought I was making a point, obviously I failed, I'll delete it, and keep my comments to my self. Apologies to all who I offended.

Bob your comments are always welcome and appreciated. This last one just seemed out of character for you.

I must say that I didn't experience it in the same way as Bob did. I never did go to the jungle walk but I spend some time on the show and in the KCR shop.
