2014 Michigan State Subgun Match Results

Post by Paul Winters » Mon Aug 11, 2014 11:14 am

Wow! What a great match. The weather Saturday was fantastic, the courses were great, and I saw ear to ear smiles and heard laughter all through the day. 6 stages that were well laid out and allowed the full auto dog to run. The club members were great to work with and the 10 Range Officers did a bang up job. There was a lunch provided that alone made the trip worthwhile. Congratulation to the winners. The competitors were safe and everyone pitched in and helped move things all. Thanks to the Black Creek Conservation Range for holding a challenging Subgun match. Special shout out to Ed Van Voorst who did the course layout and his wife for the great lunch along with the crew that worked the range. Special thanks to Neal Winters for doing the scoring (he traveled from Chicago to do this and didn’t even shoot). Jim Reinholds wife Patricia for helping Neal double check the data entry. I talked with the club president and they want to do this next year. If you missed it, you missed a great match. I will see y’all there next year and at the Creek in October. Don’t miss the next one if you can help it.

Great match, great people, and great times. Like Bob said I have no idea why more people don't make the trip. The course are well laid out, the shooting is great and the competition is typically very tight. The rules are straight up simple with 30rd limit and run what you brung. Can't get much more straight forward than that.

I look forward to this every year. And you don't have to park in the lower lot and then walk 2 miles with all your gear to get to the lower range to shoot LOL.

See most of you at KCR this fall.

It was a great time. Love the people, the snacks and the shooting! Can't wait for next year. If you all have photos send them my way and I'll add them to the website

An excellent time. On my list for sure to attend from now on.

I can't thank Cain enough for allowing me use of his Uzi.

I sincerely appreciate it.

I'm still around, in fact, I just took possession of a properly converted Model B done by Group Industries. I'm happy to have an Uzi again and look forward to our local matches resuming next month after the two month summer break.

I noted Garrett's problems in the videos and wondered if they were magazine related, ammo related, or firearm related. That sucks, but we've all experienced the malfunctions a timer causes. Perfect shooter, perfect gun, perfect mags, perfect ammo, the timer kills them all. :?

Glad to see you have an Uzi again! Yeah Garrett and I both shot poorly to be honest. We both took more penalties than we should have and Garrett had penalties coupled with a few malfunctions that really cost him the win on optics. I left a huge opening for him and stage 1 he had like 20 seconds of issues that did him in.

Fun match though! Hard to beat the fun group of people there.
