Dave Bane of the ISSMC was nice enough to let me get some trigger time on his glock 18 after the subgun shooting was done on Sat @ KCR. This thing rocks so hard... I'd love to use it as a pistol back up in a competition

A local dealer owned a Glock 19 post sample conversion. Every time I shot it, (which was fairly often), I was amazed at how relatively easy it was to keep on target. Yeah, the cool factor was almost off the scale, and it was a hoot to shoot, but it was impractical as Hell with no stock or fore grip. Tactical phone booth entry anyone? Glad you got a chance to meet Dave and wrap your hands around a Glock 18. You know he owns a tank too?

I had no idea he owns a tank... Hah! After hanging out with him some at KCR I wouldn't put anything past him in terms of fun. The positive vibe from everyone this year was great. Dave wouldn't let me video tape his runs because he said he didn't want to see how bad he shot. He shot well so perhaps he just hates cameras  I was teasing him a bit about how his runs would help better the video collection on line for generations to come and to "do it for the kids Dave!"... :D

There was an advertisement in SAR this year, (maybe the July edition?), with a photo of him driving thru an old R.V. OK, maybe it's just an armored personal carrier. Still, a very cool toy! He really is good, good people and I'm delighted to have made the trip to Indiana to meet him and many others. Photo from the bowling ball mortar match held at Dave's farm. Image

Dave's Tank was a FV101 Scorpion. These light tanks held the record for the fastest tank and would/did get air under both tracks when going over a rise (everything is hard inside of one of these when you are jumping, one has to hold on tight, in particular if you don't have a helmet on).

In 2004 Dave had the Scorpion at the ISSMC and it was use to seperate the two lower stages (a stray pistol round might scuff the paint, at worst :)

Same year one of the stages was partially done from the back of a WW
II German half track.

The FV101 is gone to another home, but hopefully should be more armor in the future, maybe one with a firing port ....

It would be soooo awesome to use armor as cover while engaging targets. There are so many possibilities it's great. :D
